The Book

Ellie is new to Annapolis, Maryland, and her new high school seems like a typical one—jocks, nerds, cheerleaders. But the students have strange similarities to the legendary figures of King Arthur's court. Could the legend be re-enacting itself? And could Ellie herself have a role to play?

The Film

A teenage girl moves to a new high school where she slowly discovers herself involved in the reincarnation of King Arthur. As she navigates typical teen drama, she uncovers a modern-day Arthurian legend unfolding around her.

Key Differences

The film simplifies the plot and reduces the complexity of the Arthurian legend. Several characters' roles and relationships are changed or omitted. The tone is more lighthearted and aimed at a younger audience compared to the book.

Our Verdict

Read the book first

The film adaptation is enjoyable but lacks the depth and detail of the book, making it better to read the novel first for a fuller experience.
