The Book

Two displaced migrant ranch workers, the quick-witted George and his simple-minded friend Lennie, share a dream of owning their own farm in Depression-era California.

The Film

A nomadic farm worker looks after his dimwitted, gentle-giant friend during the Great Depression. Together, they dream of owning their own land but face harsh realities that test their friendship.

Key Differences

The film condenses some scenes for time but retains the main plot. The character of Curley's wife is given slightly more screen presence. The ending is portrayed with more visual emphasis compared to the book's subtlety.

Our Verdict

Enjoy both!

This adaptation balances faithfulness to the novel with cinematic storytelling, making it suitable to both watch and read the original book for full appreciation.
