The Book

Pollyanna Whittier, an orphaned girl, comes to live with her stern Aunt Polly and, through her relentlessly optimistic 'Glad Game', transforms the entire town.

The Film

A young girl comes to an embittered town and confronts its attitude with her determination to see the best in life. Through her optimism and kindness, she changes the lives of the townspeople around her. Despite hardships, Pollyanna's positive outlook helps heal emotional wounds.

Key Differences

The film condenses several subplots from the book for time. Pollyanna's relationship with some secondary characters is simplified. The film adds a more upbeat ending than the original novel.

Our Verdict

Enjoy both!

The film is a faithful and charming adaptation that captures the spirit of the book while making necessary adjustments for the medium. It is recommended to both read the book and watch the film for a fuller experience.
