The Book

Earth has been invaded by a species that takes over the minds of human hosts while leaving their bodies intact. Wanderer, the invading 'soul' who has been given Melanie Stryder's body, didn't expect to find its former tenant refusing to relinquish possession.

The Film

In a future where alien souls have invaded Earth, a young woman fights to protect her loved ones while sharing her body with an alien. As the two consciousnesses struggle for control, they uncover a deeper conspiracy threatening humanity.

Key Differences

The film simplifies the complex dual consciousness concept present in the book. Several key characters and subplots are omitted or altered significantly. The ending is changed to be more action-oriented and less introspective.

Our Verdict

Read the book first

The film struggles to capture the depth and nuance of the novel, making it less satisfying for fans of the book. Watching the movie after reading enhances appreciation of the story's complexity.
