The Book
Amsterdam, 1686: eighteen-year-old Nella Oortman marries a wealthy merchant and receives a cabinet-sized replica of their house as a gift, fitted with miniatures that seem to predict the future.
The Film
In 17th century Amsterdam, a young bride receives a mysterious dollhouse from her husband and hires a miniaturist whose eerily accurate creations begin to reveal dark secrets about her new household.
