The Book

Bastian, a lonely boy, steals a mysterious book called The Neverending Story and discovers that he is drawn into the fantasy world of Fantasia to save it.

The Film

A troubled boy discovers a magical book that transports him to the fantasy world of Fantasia, where he must help save it from destruction. Along the way, he meets memorable characters and learns about courage and hope.

Key Differences

The film omits several complex subplots present in the book. The character of the Childlike Empress is less developed in the film. The film simplifies the ending, making it more optimistic than the book's conclusion.

Our Verdict

Enjoy both!

The film offers a visually engaging introduction to the story but lacks some of the book's depth and complexity. Reading the book first enriches the experience, while watching the film brings the fantasy world to life.
