The Book

After Chris Nielsen dies in an accident, he finds himself in a heaven more beautiful than he could have imagined. But when his wife takes her own life, Chris embarks on an afterlife journey to find her and bring her back.

The Film

Chris Nielsen dies in an accident and enters Heaven. When he discovers that his wife Annie has taken her own life out of grief, he embarks on a perilous journey through the afterlife to reunite with her.

Key Differences

The film adds a strong visual representation of Heaven and Hell not described in detail in the book. The character of Annie is given a more central and active role in the film. The film simplifies some of the philosophical and metaphysical concepts present in the novel for broader audience appeal.

Our Verdict

Enjoy both!

The film offers a visually stunning and emotionally engaging adaptation that complements the novel's themes, making it worthwhile to both read the book and watch the movie.
